THE EVOLUTION OF THE TOBACCO & NICOTINE

MARKET EVOLUTION

The tobacco and nicotine category has changed significantly over the past decade. According to  industry data, cigarettes have gradually lost share of in-store sales, while Other Tobacco Products (OTP) have continued to grow as adult consumer preferences evolve. This shift has encouraged retailers to diversify their product assortment and adapt to changing  purchasing behaviors.

For convenience stores and smoke shops, success today depends on offering a balanced product mix, understanding local customer demand, and staying  informed about emerging market trends. Retailers that continuously optimize their inventory strategies are better positioned to increase  customer loyalty and drive long-term growth.

As the industry continues to evolve, remaining flexible and responsive to consumer preferences will be key to building a stronger and more profitable tobacco category.
